Chardonnay wants Jason, Jason wants Kelly, and Kelly wants to dodge their drama in The Game.
Season 8 Sundays (from 9 April) SABC3 (*193) 18:30
Sports dramedy series The Game (2006- current) begins in the most dramatic place possible – with NFL player-wife Chardonnay (Brandy Nor-wood) running out of the church and ripping the Just Married sign off the car. This comes after her husband Jason Pitts’ (Coby Bell) announcement at their vow renewal that he’s still in love with his ex-wife Kelly (Brittany Daniel) at the end of season 7 (24 March 2017 on SABC3). But the ballers should study Chardonnay’s playbook for tips about making an aggressive comeback after a rough first half! And that’s as much football talk as you’re getting from us. We’re only here for the laughs, the love-triangle drama, and Chardonnay’s ridiculous divorce party in episode 6 (14 May)
Is there any chance of our favourite funny duo Jason and Kelly getting back together? “Some people really want Kelly and Jason together. Some people really want him and Chardonnay staying together, so I don’t know,” laughs Brittany. “When you truly love somebody, you don’t just get over somebody. Especially when you have a child and when you share a life together. It isn’t like the fire will go away. I think that they will always love each other. We’ll just have to see this season if they reunite or not. I don’t think that Kelly will take him back that quickly. A man has got to fight for his woman.”
THE OTHER WOMAN
Meanwhile, Chardonnay won’t be going down easily. “Chardonnay is ‘ turnt’ (her emotions are turned all the way up), okay!” says Brandy. “She was at the altar professing her love to Jason, reading all of her feelings to this man that she loves and having a moment – and then he tells her that he’s still in love with his first wife Kelly. I can’t! She’s just left there… how do you come back from that? She’s still in love with Jason. Her feelings aren’t going to go away, that’s not how it works.” Let the game begin!
The cast (from back left): Chardonnay, Jason, Kelly, Keira (Lauren London) and Blue (Jay Ellis). Front: Malik (Hosea Chanchez) and Tasha (Wendy Raquel Robinson).
