Season 29 SABC3 (*193) 19:30 Reality

Seen one season, seen ’em all, right? Not with reality supershow Survivor (2000-current) – thanks to twists, turns and surprises around every corner, no season is the same. In fact, the only constant over the years (Survivor is currently in season 34 in the US) has been host Jeff Probst. So what don’t you know about season 29, set in the Nicaraguan municipality of San Juan Del Sur?

1 Reed Kelly taught the castaways to brush their teeth with ash from the campfires and he claims, “It’s made my teeth whiter than any dental products!”

2 Two of this season’s contestants are dumped out the show with the Immunity Idol still in their possession!

3 The actual title of this season is Survivor: Blood vs Water 2 but CBS, the network that owns the show, didn’t want fans to get confused with the first Blood vs Water (season 27), so they called it Survivor: San Juan Del Sur instead.

4 Jaclyn Schultz and her boyfriend Jon Misch were almost on reality show The Amazing Race (2001-current) instead. “I thought they’d be boring and wouldn’t offer anything,” says Jeff. “But [CBS president] Les Moonves wanted them and he was right!”

5 Jeff says that “the bosses weren’t too impressed” when some of the castaways tried to skip a challenge and crown a winner without competing. “That’s just a little too lazy, you know?” laughs the 55-year-old host.

6 Natalie and Nadiya Anderson are the first twins to be on the show. They were also on seasons 21 and 24 of The Amazing Race, in 2012 and 2014. font on the tribes’ bandanas is 7 called Voodoo House because Nicaragua has a history with dark magic.
