Altagracia Sandoval (Aracely Arámbula) is sexy, sassy and dangerous as the lead character in telenovela Iron Rose (2016current). She was abused as a child and witnessed other girls going through the same ordeal. Altagracia fought her way out of her situation and the businesswoman is now using her success and power to hunt down the men who wronged her and make them pay for their sins against women.
Through her quest for revenge, Altagracia learns more about her estranged daughter Monica (Danna Paola – she played Paloma in telenovela If Only I Were You, 2015-2016), whom she gave up for adoption as a baby. Monica meanwhile knows nothing of her birthmother and lives with her disabled adoptive father Lazaron Hernandez (Odiseo Bichir). The women are re-united after they both meet charming lawyer Saul Aguirre (David Chocarro), who’s fighting for women’s rights and strikes a chord with the pair through his work. That’s where things get messy, because Altagracia and Monica fall for Saul and then discover their blood link. Not that David is complaining – he’s loving his role, adding that “this isn’t like any other telenovela as it touches on themes not seen in most shows, such as abuse and violence against women. Viewers will identify with the different characters and connect with the story that’s play-ing out. When I read Saul’s profile, I felt like the character was written for me – there are very dramatic, moving and hopeful scenes with him.”
