Roomie rumble
Friends Felix and Oscar are trying to get along one last time.
The Odd Couple Season 3 Thursdays (from 1 June) M-Net Dec 17:00/ Sat (*101) 18:00
“There is so much going on,” teases Matthew Perry, sports radio host Oscar in The Odd Couple (20152017). “We wanted Oscar to grow up and be in a committed relationship and have something to do, like save this bar that he loves so much.” “And don’t forget Felix,” says Thomas Lennon, who plays Oscar’s long-suffering neat-freak roomie. Just because the 13- episode third season is the last for the pair doesn’t mean that the sticky situations they find themselves in will be drying up either. “It’s going to be a rocky ride,” adds executive producer Bob Daily. At least these obstacles will have you laughing…
1 LONDON CALLING (episode 1) It’s a few months after season 2 ended (in May 2016) and Felix is hating his long- distance relationship with Emily (Lindsay Sloane), who’s in London. Worse, he’s got to watch on as Oscar woos Charlotte (Teri Hatcher) with a soppy serenade from cameoing RnB group Boyz II Men. 2 I KID, YOU NOT (episode 3, 15 June) Perennial kid hater Oscar tries to prove his love by adding “daddy material” to his CV. He takes Charlotte’s son Evan (Caleb Brown) trick- or-treating for Halloween and loses the boy mid-treat.
3 TAFFY DAYS (episode 4, 22 June) The episode pays tribute to Garry Marshall, writer, creator and producer of the show and its previous versions The Odd Couple (1970-1975) and The New Odd Couple (1982-1983). His “role” is as Oscar’s dead dad and there’s a cameo from director Ron Howard as Oscar’s lawyer Stanley. Garry passed away from complications after suffering a stroke in July 2016.
4 SHOULD SHE STAY OR SHOULD SHE GO? (episode 10, 3 August) Felix’s one-night-stand Natasha (Busy Phillips) is a problem lover when she refuses to leave.
5 CONSCIOUS ODD COUPLING (series finale episode 13, 24 August) The boys’ spat sees them “break up” and Felix finds a new roomie in Neil (Parvesh Cheena). But Neil gets on Felix’s nerves and Oscar, being the nice guy that he is, saves the day by moving back in.
