Training Day

-

Season 1 Vuzu AMP (*103) 21:30 Action

Watching Training Day (2016-2017) is bittersweet. While Bill Paxton is taking the lead as law-bending detective Frank Roarke, fans also know that he passed away in February from a stroke following heart surgery. Filming had wrapped in December 2016, so the late 61-yearold will appear in all 13 episodes, but it also meant that the studio pulled the plug and cancelled Training Day before the season had finished airing.

1 Bill saw President John F Kennedy on the morning of his assassination 22 November 1963. There’s actually a photo of Bill on someone’s shoulders at JFK’s hotel at the JFK Sixth Floor Museum in Dallas, Texas. He played the blue-haired thug in 2 1984 movie Terminator, directed by James Cameron. In 1988, Bill talked James into directing the music video for his band Martini Ranch’s song Reach. 3 He leaves behind his second wife Louise, whom he met on a bus and married in 1987. They have two kids, 23-year-old actor son James and varsitystudent daughter Lydia (19). 4 Bill was a pretty fussy actor and turned down big roles in his 43year career, including scientist Dr Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) in 1993’s Jurassic Park and adventurer Alan Parrish (Robin Williams) in 1995’s Jumanji. 5 What he didn’t mind was nudity on set, adding that playing polygamist Bill Henrickson in drama Big Love (2006-2011) “was liberating” because of the nude scenes, “but there is nothing sexual about lovemaking on set”. 6 His fatal surgery was to repair a heart valve that was damaged as a teen by rheumatic fever, which also forced him to use penicillin injections until he was 19.
