A woman scorned
Damon Bradbury’s ex-wife Jennifer could tell Quinton a thing or two – but will she tell him the truth?

Siseko (Hlomla Dandala) might’ve forged those documents that had dodgy Damon (Craig Urbani) ditching Yvonne (Kgomotso Christopher) at the altar on 10 February this year and fleeing the police. But there’s no smoke without fire and Damon’s sceptical nephew Quinton (Brighton Ngoma) is trailing the strongest smoke signal. They lead to the exMrs Bradbury (Charmaine Weir-Smith), the woman who phoned Yvonne three days before her wedding to warn her to “run as fast as you can in the opposite direction”. Quinton is about to get a lot more than he bargained for!
THE SUSPICIOUS MRS
Quinton realises that he’s a dead man if he puts a foot wrong when Jennifer opens her door on Wednesday 7 June. “She lives in a state of high anxiety and fear, so when Quinton rocks up on her doorstep, she’s immediately apprehensive. It’s cause for alarm that he has something to do with Damon,” says Charmaine. “And she is a woman alone on a plot far out of Johannesburg – her nearest neighbour is a kilometre away. She doesn’t know if she can trust him, so she wants to establish, ‘Be afraid of me and don’t try to mess with me’.” Her unmistakable threat proves that this mouse can roar.
SLAPPING BACK
On Thursday 8 June, Jennifer decides to let Quinton in – in more ways than one. “She’s been so burnt by her experience with Damon… he destroyed her life and took her money – that’s her story. But when she meets Quinton, her gut instinct is that he’s actually quite special. Quinton makes it clear from the outset that he’s on her side because he doesn’t trust Damon either.” And on Monday 19 June, Jennifer hands over her jackpot: a diary full of dirty details. “She is very passionate about warning people about Damon. She believes that he is the devil incarnate,” Charmaine says. But the actress has her own warning for fans: “Is Jennifer right about Damon or is Damon right about Jennifer? You’re constantly kept on a knife edge. She makes some bold choices that viewers might find a little shocking.” And it won’t be long before Quinton realises that Jennifer’s looking for more than just a “partner in crime”.
