Sidelined ex- convict Ace (Sello Sebotsane) has a plan to worm his way back into his family’s life thanks to his daughter Azania’s (Enhle Maphumulo) new baby, who needs a liver after being born on Tuesday 6 June. “He’s been waiting for the perfect opportunity to win back Azania and this is his chance,” says Sello, whose character is tested by doctors along with the rest of the family to be a donor match.
A TERRIBLE SECRET
But first Ace will have to get past his adoptive daughter Thandi (Joanne Reyneke). Their relationship is strained thanks to a terrible family secret – she claims he raped her but Ace denies it and has his own side of the story. “She will do whatever it takes to keep him away,” explains Sello. On Monday 12 June, Thandi makes it clear that Ace needs to stay away even though he’s a perfect donor match. “She’s furious when she finds out. Thandi hates that Ace will be back in everyone’s good books. She just can’t have that,” Sello says. Knowing full well that he can’t mess this up, Ace is on his best behaviour on Thursday 15 June. “He is nervous,” Sello says, “because the past, and specifically his secret history with Thandi, keeps haunting him and might destroy his future. And the ex- convict is keen to make up for lost time.”
TELL THE TRUTH!
On Friday 16 June, the Moswanes plan a celebratory dinner and invite everyone. “Ace is happy to pick up where he left off and be part of his family life again,” says Sello. But Thandi puts a damper on the festivities by blurting out the secret – she tells everyone that her adoptive dad sexually assaulted her as a teenager. “The Moswanes are beyond shocked and very confused,” Sello says. “They can’t believe that Ace – who just did this big deed – would do something like that to Thandi.”
By Monday 19 June, “It’s war!” Sello reveals. “Azania doesn’t want to believe Thandi. She’s in disbelief that her dad would do something so terrible to his daughter after he had just saved her newborn. She thinks that Thandi is lying and this may tear the girls apart.”
