Record exec Lerato (Samkelo Ndlovu) and her business associate Lungile (Meshack Mavuso) are struggling to end their secret love affair. They’ve been tip-toeing behind his fiancée Bongi’s (Thembi Seete) back, so on Thursday 22 June, Lerato gives Lungile an ultimatum: “dump Bongi or I’ll leave”. The pair started getting cosy in mid-May after Lerato stepped in to help Lungile plan his wedding as Bongi had focused all her attention on her upcoming album. “It’s difficult for them to drop the relationship. Lerato and Lungile love each other and although they don’t want to hurt Bongi, their love keeps them coming back for more,” explains Samkelo.

FOUL PLAY

Lerato falls into the love trap again on Friday 23 June despite telling herself that she’s over Lungile. “She tries to convince herself that she’s done with him but it’s nearly impossible to stay away from each other,” says Samkelo. It’s not the first time the women have competed over a man – Lerato fell in love with Bongi’s late hubby Doc (Dumisani Mbebe) in August 2016 and the actress says “it was different with Doc. Lerato didn’t know about Bongi until she was in too deep with Doc – this time round, she’s just in a messy situation.” Bongi’s back from the recording studio and at the office on Monday 26 June, but the lovebirds still can’t resist each other. Luckily “Bongi is oblivious to the affair. She has a lot on her mind and doesn’t catch Lerato and Lungile. Besides, they’re also good at hiding the affair,” reveals Samkelo.

CHOP AND CHANGE

But Lerato is tired of pretending on Tuesday 27 June and “she threatens to leave Lungile again. She’s confused and feels guilty for betraying Bongi,” says the actress. Although feisty Lerato usually knows what she wants and she goes for it, she doesn’t know how to deal with her feelings for Lungile. “We see another side of Lerato when she’s with him. She’s vulnerable and playful but a part of her doesn’t want to hurt Bongi,” says Samkelo, but she is angry on Monday 3 July when Lungile takes a step back from the affair to try mend things with Bongi. “Lerato is human. The affair is playing tricks with her and she wants to end it, but when the time is right for her,” says Samkelo.
