The saying goes that “the truth will set you free”. That’s definitely not the case for Thandi (Jo-Anne Reyneke), because telling her truth has only managed to create more drama in her life. The Moswanes, who adopted Thandi as a baby, resent her for exposing her ex- convict dad Ace (Sello Sebotsane) for raping her as a teen. “Thandi does regret telling them,” explains Jo-Anne. “Everyone thinks that she’s trying to destroy the family.” Thandi confronts her adoptive mom Gerty (Thembi Mtshali-Jones) on Wednesday 21 June for convincing her to keep quiet for so long. “If Thandi had spoken sooner, the family wouldn’t be in shreds,” says Jo-Anne.

DON’T DARE

But while Thandi’s on a quest to expose Ace to the world on Thursday 22 June, he’s on a mission to destroy her too. “Ace is angry! He wants to take Thandi down and reclaim his family after he’d spent so much time in jail,” Jo-Anne says. Thandi’s best-friend sister Azania (Enhle Maphumulo) thinks that she’s lying about Ace raping her. Azania is trying to make up for lost time with her dad and Ace has been helping her mend her broken marriage with prescription drug-addict Chris (Emmanuel Castis). “She thinks that Thandi is trying to take all of that away from her,” explains Joanne. She adds that on Thursday 27 June, “Azania wants nothing to do with Thandi and she says hurtful things to her. It’s a huge mess and Thandi feels responsible for ruining her sisterly bond with Azania.”

ABOVE BOARD

The Moswanes are a family divided on Thursday 29 June and Thandi’s adoptive brother and boyfriend Uhuru (Thapelo Mokwena) is using his journo skills to investigate her rape claims. Thandi wonders if Uhuru doesn’t believe her version of the story, but Jo-Anne assures us that “their romance isn’t lost. They love each other but Uhuru is caught between believing his dad or supporting his girlfriend”. The support from Uhuru gives Thandi drive on Friday 30 June to prove that she isn’t lying and that Ace isn’t a changed man after his time in prison. “She wants Ace to pay for taking power from her when she was a kid,” warns Jo-Anne. “She won’t stop until he’s back where he belongs!”
