Audrey Marie Anderson is proving that just because you’re a tough butt-kicker doesn’t mean you can’t look fabulous and have to have broken nails. The 42year-old former model is playing Lyla Michaels in sci-fi action show Arrow (2012-current), the director of secret government agency ARGUS (Advanced Research Group United Support). And like her punch-throwing character, Audrey likes keeping her privacy…
1 The Texas native jokes that “my
family hate the spotlight. They don’t want me talking about them at all”. She won’t even say if her sister Nancy is younger or older than her.
2 Her first role was a one-episode
gig as a cop on drama Beverly Hills, 90210 (1990-2000), a lot less glamorous than her day-time job as a model for Armani, GAP and US retail giant Target.
3 And while she’d love to grow her
hair a bit longer, Audrey says that her short look is what gave her her career. And it actually used to be shorter – her boyfriend gave her a boy-style trim in the early ’90s and she says that “the agencies started taking notice of me, when I looked like a boy [Laughs]”.
4 She doesn’t mind getting her
hands dirty for work – she played Kim Brown in US military-themed action show The Unit (2006-2009) and was in horror series The Walking Dead (2011current) as Lily in season 2.
5 While Audrey is on social media
– @aud_anderson on Twitter – she admits to being “super careful” about posting too much info. Fans will find photos of her young son and daughter but never with their faces exposed.
6 Her relationship status is a mystery
too, but she adds, “I know my kids are safe while I’m away working.”
