Kyle MacLachlan is back where he is comfiest: as FBI Agent Dale Cooper in rebooted sci-fi series Twin Peaks (1990current). “I love him!” says the actor. But being the lead doesn’t mean the show creators David Lynch and Mark Frost have given him inside info for the 18-episode season 3. “No one in the cast knows. I can’t give away spoilers because I don’t know until we film it!”
1 The 56-year-old loves wine and
owns the Pursued By Bear label at Washington’s Dunham Cellars. He even named a vintage after his nine-year-old son Callum’s nickname: “Baby Bear”.
2 He married New York publicist
Desirée Gruber in 2002 but before that, Kyle dated Lara Flynn Boyle (Donna in Twin Peaks) from 1990 to 1992 and was engaged to model Linda Evangelista from 1992 to 1998.
3 While Kyle has kept quiet, rumour
is that Lara hated his on-screen love interest Sherilyn Fenn (Audrey) and made him demand a plot rewrite to keep the characters apart. And sources claim that Lara may be left out of the reboot because the show bosses “have bad memories of working with her”.
4 Women, wine and acting aren’t
Kyle’s only loves – he’s created social media and YouTube accounts for his two Yorkies dogs Sam and Mookie.
5 And while he jokes that sci-fi “is
my thing” – because it’s the only award he’s won for, the 1991 Golden Globe for Best Actor Series Drama (for Twin Peaks) – Kyle loves dramedies. He played charmer Trey MacDougal in 23 episodes of Sex & The City (1998-2004) and shifty Orson Hodge in 86 episodes of Desperate Housewives (2004-2012). NB!
