Forensic neuropsychiatrist Dr Chance is putting his life on the line with his new patient in Chance.
Chance Season 1 Tuesdays (from 27 June) M-Net (*101) 23:30
“This is about a vulnerable, exposed character,” warns Hugh Laurie (Dr Gregory House in drama series House MD, 2004-2012). He plays Dr Eldon Chance in Chance (2016current), a forensic neuropsychatrist who gets in over his head helping his new patient. “He becomes unhelpfully obsessed,” says the British actor. “He doesn’t realise until it’s too late that he’s now involved with police corruption, physical and emotional abuse and very dangerous people.” He adds that “Chance isn’t an anti-hero. He could be anyone of us. He’s just made one tragic mistake after the next”.
BY THE BOOK
The series is based on the 2014 fiction novel of the same name by Kem Nunn, who’s also the show creator. “I wanted to have this guy [Eldon] being crushed by his profession and having his life unravel,” says the author. “What has really excited me about this project is the level of talent we had interested.”
