Law & war
Rough seas lie ahead for the crumbling dream team in season 7 of law drama Suits.
Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht) has more weight on his shoulders than the previous six seasons combined when Suits (2011- current) returns. The hotshot lawyer is the big dog in the yard after managing partner Jessica Pearson (Gina Torres) left, but he’s got back-up. Mike Ross (Patrick J Adams) is a legit lawyer and Mike’s fiancée Rachel Zane (Meghan Markle) has graduated law school. It’s not going to be like old times though, hints series creator Aaron Korsch. “Mike is not a new attorney anymore. He is also not a fraud anymore. How is it going to impact things in this new dynamic?”
BEING THE BOSS
“This season is about how Harvey will respond to being in a power position as opposed to the freelance superstar he was before,” explains Aaron. Does he know how to run a law firm? No – he’s always had Jessica there to tidy up his mess after hot-headed blow-out, but according to Gabriel, “Times change. This a new ballgame. Harvey has to choose how he is going to run things. If he follows Jessica’s lead, it could have disastrous repercussions…”
UNLUCKY IN LOVE
Mike and Rachel have overcome jail, work woes and worse – Rachel’s dad
Robert ( Wendell Pierce) – but they’re no closer to the altar. “When you work hard and together, there is bound to be conflict as personal lives takes a backseat,” says Patrick. And they’re not the only ones: Louis isn’t over Tara (Carly Pope) dumping him in the season 6 finale and he is going to lash out, hints Aaron. “We keep doing it to Louis, two steps forward, one step backward. Dealing with Tara will affect him going forward.”
JUST VISITING
Don’t be surprised to Jessica pop in, like she did in the season 6 finale. Actress Gina says that “the door is wedged open and I have a foot in there to keep an eye on Harvey”.
