Scorpion
Season 3 M-Net (*101) 20:30 Action
The socially awkward geniuses are back for more hi-tech adventure in Scorpion (2014-current), as is their genius-tohuman translator and minder Paige (Katharine McPhee). So what lies ahead for Walter (Elyes Gabel), Happy (Jadyn Wong) and co? “Firing, hiring, love and a wedding,” teases Eddie Kaye Thomas, who plays behaviourist, psychiatrist and medical doctor Toby. “And a little saving the world on the side.”
Episode 1 (7 July) is a two-parter that sees the team fighting two wars. Walter is on an uncomfy flight back to their HQ with his love interest Paige after ruining her out-of-town date with ex-Navy SEAL Tim (Scott Porter) – except Walt isn’t willing to admit his love. Scorpion finish the episode hunting a hacker in Europe who has control of US Naval installations and maths guy Sly (Ari Stidham) plays a deadly card game.
There’s also relationship drama, but not just for Paige and Walter. “Paige is frustrated with him,” explains Katharine, “but she is even more frustrated when her con-artist mom Veronica [Lea Thompson, Kathryn in drama Switched At Birth, 2011-2017] shows up. We get to really see a more agitated side of Paige this season.” She’s confused too – “There is a dream sequence [in episode 3, 21 July] that’s going to play over and over through the season and it’s going to help them,” teases the actress.
In episode 5 (4 August), Scorpion helps a museum restore a rotting pillar from the ancient world and foil a heist. FBI Agent Gallo (Robert Patrick) almost dies in episode 12 (22 Sept), forcing Walter to re-examine how he handles emotions. And in episode 23 (8 Dec), the team fight an underground coal fire and Toby and Happy do everything they can to make it to the altar in time.
