Bongi and Lungile’s (Thembi Seete and Meshack Mavuso) marriage is barely a month old and it’s sinking like Titanic. They tied the knot in a quickie ceremony in June 2017 and Lungile is refusing to stop his affair with his record exec co-worker Lerato (Samukelo Ndlovu). “It’s such a mess!” says Thembi. “Lungile wants control of the Red Record label that his wife owns”. And he’s not below drugging her to get it, hints the actress. “Bongi is using alcohol recovery pills [to make her stay away from booze] and Lungile swaps them out for hallucinogenic drugs on Monday 24 July,” says Thembi. The pills look the same, so Bongi won’t realise that she’s being drugged and will think that she’s going crazy…

MEDICAL MISDEMEANOUR

“He wants people to think that Bongi is incapable of running the company,” says Thembi. Lungile helped her kick her alcohol habit in November 2016 when she abuse the bottle in guilt – she blamed herself for her hubby Doc’s (Dumisani Mbebe) death and “Lungile uses that to get Bongi back into her fragile state. He knows her better than anyone. When he switches those pills, she’ll go crazy,” adds Thembi.

CROSSED FINGERS

Lungile is planning to snatch Red, kick Bongi to the curb and start over with Lerato. But there’s another hitch: right now, everything in the house belongs to Doc’s estate and that will take time for him to grab. Bongi starts taking the replacement pills on Tuesday 25 July and while she feels a little “weird and woozy, she ignores it because those are her pills,” says Thembi. Bongi got the idea to ditch Bongi when she was more focused on her celeb lifestyle than her personal life. “She didn’t even have time to plan their wedding,” says Thembi. “She’s been focused on her new album, touring and performing that she forgot about her husband!” Bongi is feeling off the next day on Wednesday 26 July and that actress says that “watch out! She’s back! It’s the old, messy Bongi – something that she’s been fighting to never be again!”

DOWN & OUT

Lungile doesn’t bat an eyelid on Thursday 27 July when Bongi’s name is mentioned at Red Records for all the wrong reasons. “She’s losing it. She can’t explain simple things and that makes people question her,” says Thembi. One such person questioning out- of- control Bongi is her love rival – “Lerato knows that Bongi has been sticking to her recovery plan. She can’t put her foot on it right now, but she wants to get to the bottom of Bongi’s strange behaviour,” says Thembi. “She doesn’t not think that Lungile is behind it. He loves Bongi, right?”
