Jamie Dornan’s CV is an interesting read – he has modelled in his undies, played a kinky billionaire in the 50 Shades Of Grey movies (2015-current) and serial killer Paul Spector in action thriller The Fall (2013-current). Not bad for some-one who has made a stand against taking off his shirt for work. “I have felt sexualised. I feel very subjective a lot of the time on set and it’s not the greatest feeling.”

The 35-year-old Irishman was the 1

blacksheep of the family, he says. “Yeah, my dad Jim is a doctor. My stepmother Samina is a doctor. And my late mum Lorna mum was a nurse. Even my uncle is a doctor. I chose the arts instead – I went rogue [Laughs].”

But it turns out Jamie’s dad was 2

into acting as a teen and used his son to get a role on The Fall. Jim played Chief Constable John Porter in season 2 episode 2 (2014) and “he kept it a secret,” says Jamie, who only found out when he saw Jim on set for filming.

And Jamie is a proper daddy’s boy 3

– he named his folk band Sons Of Jim. Their biggest claim to fame was opening for indie muso KT Tunstall in 2006 before Jamie and his guitar-player pal David Alexander split in 2008.

He hates being called a “sex sym4

bol” for his work on 50 Shades but Jamie adds that “there are worse things to be called. But there’s a part of me that wants to be recognised for something like my TV show work.”

When he gets away from work, 5

Jamie plays doting father to son Dulcie (5) and daughter Elva (1). He married actress Amelia Warner (35) in 2013 and Jamie says that “we love the fact that they [the kids] aren’t in school – we go everywhere as a family”.
