Truth & Murder

Blade needs answers if he’s going to avenge Zweli’s death.

-

On Monday 31 July, the Valley was rocked by devastating news. Their beloved Chief Zweli (Andile Gumbi) had died in a car accident. Zweli’s subjects went into mourning, including his wife and current Queen Sihle (Zinhle Mabena). But what the Valley doesn’t know is that Sihle is hiding a deep, dark and painful secret… one that’s threatening to be exposed when Blade (Jeffrey Sekele) comes snooping for answers to the Chief’s “death” on Friday 25 August.

PAINFUL LOSS

“When Blade heard the news, he was more than just shocked. He was angry and felt conflicted,” explains Jeffrey. In fact, Blade was utterly devastated by the loss – Zweli was like a son to him. Jeffrey adds that “after [former Chief and Zweli’s father] Bhekifa ( Vusi Kunene) died in 2016, Blade took over right-hand man duties for Zweli and the two became close. It’s only right to say that Blade wants to know more about his Chief’s death and find the person responsible for it.”

DRIVEN BY ANGER

It’s no secret to viewers that powerhungry Sihle and no-good meddler Ngwebedla (Ernest Ndlovu) are behind Zweli’s car crash. They schemed to get Zweli out of the way, with Queen Sihle promising her new minion a place on the throne if Ngwebedla did as he was told. “Blade has never liked Sihle and he is certain that she is to blame for Zweli’s death. Blade also needs to look over his own shoulder because whoever was out for Zweli could be out for him too,” reveals Jeffrey. And he has a point – on Thursday 17 August, Sihle is worrying that everything she’s done for power could come undone. The people of the Valley don’t like her and there could be trouble if she takes the throne in her late husband’s place.

INTERROGATE A SUSPECT

Blade was right to trust his gut and no stranger to the seedy underworld, he visits hitman Mbodla (Dumisani Dlamini) on Tuesday 29 August. But it’s not like Mbodla is just going to reveal what he knows. “Blade will destroy the person who killed Zweli and nothing will hold him back. Mbodla knows that, but he also knows that Sihle isn’t to be trifled with,” teases Jeffrey.
