Rebellious high-school drop-out Anja (Lee Visagie) wants to get out from under her parents Hendrik and Lalage’s (Gérard Rudolf and Elma Postma) controlling Christian thumbs. And she got that escape route on Tuesday 8 August when she met her mother’s estranged sister Wendy (Michelle Beling). “Anja’s view of the world changes and she realises that she’s closer in personality to Aunt Wendy than to her mother,” says Lee.

CRIMINAL RECORD

Outspoken Wendy loses her home in Horizon Deep on Wednesday 16 August and makes a beeline for Lalage’s place. The sisters don’t see eye-to- eye, “But Lalage doesn’t want Wendy to be alone on the streets,” explains Lee. Lalage talks to her hubby but Hendrik isn’t easily moved. “He sees Wendy as a potential bad influence on Anja and her brother Zandre (Deandre Reiners),” says Lee. “Wendy has just been paroled after being involved in a robbery.”

SURPRISE ROLE MODEL

Hendrik should’ve listened to his gut – Anja and Wendy are getting on like a house on fire on Thursday 17 August and Lee adds that “they click because Wendy understands where Anja’s coming from. She relates to her niece’s situation”. Wendy also helps Anja with her self- esteem issues about battling at school on Wednesday 23 August. “Anja and Lalage have no trust in each other and now Anja has shut her mom out from her life,” explains Lee. “Anja sees Wendy as her hero and she’ll do anything to make her proud.”

TWO PEAS IN A POD

Lalage is willing to forgive and forget everything Wendy’s done on Thursday 24 August when she sees how her sister is helping Anja and encouraging her to go back to school. “But it doesn’t last,” teases Lee. “Wendy’s parole officers visit [on Friday 25 August] and they’ve brought bad news. She could be going back to jail for another crime that she committed in early August…”
