Action series Chicago PD (2014-current) follows the uniformed street cops and the Intelligence Unit of the 21st District of the Chicago Police Department. Executive producer Dick Wolf reveals that he chose the city because “it represents, sort of shamelessly, the best of US ideals and values and yet at the same time it’s a very interesting urban petri dish in which there are lots of bad things that can happen on cop shows. It’s a cleaner, politer New York with slightly heavier people.” We shook down the series to uncover what’s really going on…

The cast’s uniforms are tweaked 4
to be more attractive, but they’re still real uniforms. “In summer, I wish that our polyester uniforms were thinner and in winter I’m wishing they’re thicker. A constant state of unhappiness with the thickness of my uniform,” jokes Marina Squerciati (Kim Burgess).

veals that the actors had intensive training. “We worked with intelligence officers, the SWAT team and female undercover officers. We trained in pretty much every arena, high-speed chases, weapons, everything!
