The Maputlas are disappointed when Leeto prevents abusive Dennis going to jail.

-

Defence lawyer Leeto (Eric Macheru) is stuck between a rock and a hard place. His boss Advocate Bopape (Patrick Bokaba) assigns him his first big case on Tuesday 17 October – keeping abusive spouse Dennis (Clevy Sekgala) out of jail. “Leeto knows his family won’t agree. He takes it to make Bopape proud but he knows there’ll be drama coming,” says Eric. Everyone in Turfloop would like to see Dennis locked up for abusing Sthoko (Innocent Sadiki), but Leeto can’t turn down the opportunity to move ahead in his law firm. “A part of Leeto is hesitant – of course he wants to be a powerhouse like Bopape, but his family is against Dennis – and that’s going to be a big problem,” explains Eric.

MIND OVER MATTER

After a night of tossing and turning, Leeto comes clean to his mentor Bopape on Wednesday 18 October. He tells success-hungry Bopape that he isn’t ready for the negative attention around the case. That causes conflict between them. “Bopape is shocked! He can’t believe that Leeto is letting his personal opinion cloud his judgement,” says Eric – whose character fears that his mom Meikie (Harriet Manamela) will lose her mind when she finds out about the case. While Meikie has every reason to despise Dennis for putting her bestie MaNtuli’s (Dieketseng Mnisi) daughter through hell, Leeto takes the case anyway and plans to hide it from his family. “But Meikie finds out, and she is upset with Leeto,” warns Eric. She tries to convince him to drop the case on Friday 20 October. “To Meikie, it’s not just about MaNtuli’s daughter. She wants to see Dennis behind bars for abusing a woman – but that goes against Leeto’s job description and he continues with the case,” says Eric.

KNOCK, KNOCK

With all the drama in the Maputla family, they are shocked when they get a surprise visit from Leeto’s wife Mokgadi’s (Pebetsi Matlaila) longlost son Noah (Tiisetso Mashala) later on Friday 20 October. “It’s total chaos,” laughs Eric. The family is already divided by Leeto’s decision at work – and this is another reason for meddling Meikie to scream and shout at every turn. “The tension is high in that house. But Leeto and Mokgadi are standing their ground and not letting Meikie control them. It’s going to be a bumpy ride – not only for the case, but Mokgadi’s new-found relationship with her son,” reveals the actor.
