Season 8 FOX (*125) 21:00 Sci-fi Take cover, fans! The Walking Dead’s (2010-current) long-awaited war is here at last with season 8 and “this is going to be epic,” teases executive producer Scott Gimple. On the one side is hero Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and his survivor buddies of the Hilltop and Kingdom, on the other still is vile killer Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and his cronies The Saviors.
The first episode of season 8 is the 100th episode of the series and Scott says that the show will hit the ground running. “This season will run at a break-neck pace. Over seven seasons we’ve set all the characters into place, and now it’s time to break them from the word go.”
Even Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride), who chose a recluse’s life in season 7 (2016), is ready to take up arms again. “The rise of Negan makes her feel a call to duty,” says Melissa. “There is so much action for her. Carol is armed. She is blowing things up, so cover your ears!”
Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus), who had a torturous season 7, has his own little agenda to take care of. “He wants revenge on those who inflicted torture on him. There’s no dilly-dallying with him. Daryl will slightly veer off course and go rogue for a while, but in the end he’ll stand by Rick.”
Season 8 should also boost ratings with the introduction of a new breed of Walker: “contortionists” that can bend theirs arms and shoulders at various unique angles. Rumour also has it that another group of villains may show up this season: The Whisperers. When asked about this, Scott had a simple answer: “I’m going to give you a full no-comment on that.” Now take a bite out of that meat and enjoy!
