Comedy: Wrecked, Carters Get Rich, New Girl
It’s survival of the fittest – and funniest – on Wrecked as more island-style shenanigans take place in season 2.
A traveller’s worst nightmare came true on comedy series Wrecked (2016- current) when a plane crashed en route from the USA to Thailand. The survivors made it to a small island that they’re desperate to escape, but their dreams were dashed when they realised there was nobody searching for them. Are they doomed? “It’s not the kind of show where you can shuffle the episodes around and still follow. You need to watch it in order, and it gets darker and darker and darker: There’s revenge and cannibalism – it’s about the collapse of a small society, and the chaos,” says actor Zach Cregger, who stars as flight attendant Owen. There are eight characters in total, and they all make the 10- episode series binge-worthy:
FLIGHT ATTENDANT
Owen O’ Connor (Zach Cregger) Owen hates people, but is forced to connect with the other survivors to survive.
SPORTS AGENT
Pack Hara (Asif Ali) Pack’s negotiation skills come in handy when things go awry on the island.
TOURIST
Steve Rutherford (Rhys Darby) The New Zealander from Papakura loses a leg, gains a sense of ruthless humour and soon becomes one of the leaders of the plane- crash survivors.
STATISTICAL ANALYST
Karen “Sister Mercy” Cushman (Brooke Dillman) She’s got this – she’s been preparing her whole life to take charge and be fearless about it.
PODIATRIST AND FEMINIST
Emma Cook and Florence Bitterman (Ginger Gonzaga and Jessica Lowe) The besties were on their way to party in Thailand, but that fell apart – now all they have is sleeping pills and each other.
ODD COUPLE
Todd Hinkle and Jess Kato (Will Greenberg and Ally Maki) They’ve been dating for seven years, but Todd is hesitant to make a commitment – and Jess was planning to end things. After the plane crash, Todd has a change of heart – but Jess remains in two minds about carrying on with their relationship.
