Turning a new leaf on life doesn’t mean that you have to forget your past. And after spending hours thinking about his future, eligible bachelor Kop (Setlhabi Taunyane) has come to a decision: he’s giving up his independence by proposing to his live-in girlfriend Blossom (Slindile Nodangala) on Wednesday 8 November. She has been trying to get him to make their romance official and is excited that he’s put his fears aside and is moving on from his late wife Mamokete (Connie Chiume), who died in April 2016 on the night of their 35th wedding anniversary. With no time wasted, Kop calls his elders to begin the lobola negotiations, but his excitement is quickly overshadowed by his thoughts on what his kids Stone and Tshidi (Zenzo Ngqobe and Nokuthula Ledwaba) will think about him “replacing” their mom.

WEDDING WOES

With his head hanging, Kop doesn’t look like a happy groom on Thursday 9 November. “It’s a big step. Mamokete died seconds after they declared their love to each other and he is terrified that that might happen again,” says Zenzo, who is back on the soap after a brief visit last year following a fouryear absence. “Stone came back the night that his mom died, so it’s almost like he’s a bad omen.” While the Khuse family isn’t the closest, they’re there when they’re needed most, like on Friday 10 November when the uncles set a wedding a date. It feels like everything is happening too fast for Kop. He is hesitant to move forward with the wedding preparations and Zenzo says that “Kop has a lot on his plate. He’s been waiting for the perfect woman to walk his way but he fears that he might lose Blossom just like he lost Mamokete. And that’s a lot for him to figure out.”

PRESS PAUSE

Not everyone is happy for Kop to be walking down the aisle though. Kop’s brother-in-law Sello (Francis Rangoajane) tries to stop the lobola negotiations on Monday 13 November. Sello enjoys throwing his weight around whenever he’s in the Khuse house and “he doesn’t want anyone taking his sister Mamokete’s place. Sello thinks that Kop will forget about Mamokete if Blossom becomes part of the family,” explains Zenzo. The negations grind to a halt on Wednesday 15 November and Sello is ready to get rid of Blossom there and then. “Sello wants support from the family to chase Blossom away. He phones Stone and tells him about Kop’s wedding plans and that Blossom isn’t good enough for Kop. Angry and upset, Stone drops everything to sort out his family drama,” says Zenzo.

TO THE RESCUE

Stone shows up on Kop’s doorstep on Monday 20 November to surprise his father and stop him from wasting his time with Blossom. “Like always, Kop is ecstatic to see his son. They have a great father-son relationship and during their catch-up chat, Stone quickly realises that Blossom is the right fit from what Kop says about her,” explains Zenzo. Sello again plays the devil on Stone’s shoulder on Tuesday 21 November and tries to convince him that Blossom is a problem. “He doesn’t agree with Sello. Stone didn’t even want to come home as it reminds him of his mom’s death, but he’s going to help his dad now!” warns Zenzo.
