Elisabeth Moss isn’t complaining about her role as Offred in the award-winning drama series The Handmaid’s Tale (2017current), but she does think that her job is “strange”. “I dress up in someone else’s clothes and pretend I’m someone else. Who does that?” says the 35-yearold, who took home the Emmy Awards in September for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series and Outstanding Drama Series (producer).

Elisabeth is grateful for the four Emmy nominations that she earned as Peggy in period drama Mad Men (20072015), “I’d give everything up to have that hair bun and tutu again.”
She was also a singer growing up – 2
her parents Linda and Ron were musicians and Lizzy played music when she wasn’t studying dance at The School Of American Ballet in New York.
She’s been in the entertainment 3
business since she was eight but Lizzy doesn’t consider herself famous, even with her Mad Men and Handmaid’s roles. “I’m just lucky to get work. I started on [miniseries] Lucky Chances (1990) and wasn’t on anything ‘big’ until [political drama] The West Wing (1999-2006) and I was a teen then.”

Elisabeth loves getting out of the house during her time away from work and jokes that her hobby is shopping. “Not that I actually shop. I just put the things in my cart and push!”
From 2008 to 2011, she went from 5
single to engaged, married and divorced from Fred Armisen from sketch show Portlandia (2011-current).
Lizzy is a life-long Scientologist 6
and lives in LA with her two sister cats Lucy and Ethel.
