Everyone has a weakness. Whether it’s money, power or love – there is always something that could bring even the most dangerous men to their knees. For criminal businessman David Genaro (Jamie Bartlett), his vice is women who are just as treacherous as him… like his devious fiancée Andiswa (Tina Jaxa), who has David right where she wants him on Wednesday 20 December. Andiswa is after David’s business empire and she ordered a hitman to murder him at their wedding in mid-December, only for the bullet to miss David by centimetres. “David wants answers,” says Jamie. “Andiswa is pretending like she doesn’t know anything about the attempted shooting when she’s behind the whole thing!” But Andiswa isn’t finished trying to control David. On Thursday 21 December she tells him that his babymamma Gail (Pam Andrews) is responsible for the shoot-out. “At first, David doubts what Andiswa is telling him. But she sells it so well and she tells him that Gail has a gun that she’s hiding,” explains Jamie. David storms out to search for the weapon on Thursday 21 December and he has vengeance on his mind.

EVEN THE SCORE

There’s no questioning David’s credentials on the streets of Joburg and he is feared by gangsters all over town. But he’s nervous to confront Gail about the shooting and Andiswa’s claims on Friday 22 December. “He is a bottle of mixed emotions but goes to face Gail anyway,” says Jamie. Although the two have history, David wants to prove his gangster status and set an example that no one messes with him. “Andiswa’s words are playing in his head while he’s arguing with Gail. He puts a gun to her head and she’s scared for her life,” explains Jamie. But Gail’s on-off boyfriend Big Man (Quincy Fynn) walks in on the pair. “It’s like an action movie scene. David and Big Man wrestle to the ground and a gunshot rings out,” says Jamie. Big Man is left lying in a pool of blood. David checks on him and then walks out.

FACING THE MUSIC

David retraces every step that Gail made on his wedding day on Tuesday 26 December and he spots something worrying while scanning the camera footage – Andiswa talking to 66er gangmember Storm (Roderick Mervin Jafta). “David is devastated. He can’t believe that she tried to kill him! And he was planning to make Andiswa the beneficiary on his will. He wants explanation,” says Jamie. “David finds Andiswa just as she is about to run away. He traps her and his plan is to torture her and make her suffer and pay. Then he will kill her.”

RUNAWAY LOVE

Knowing full well that David can be reasoned with even in a blind rage, Andiswa tries to talk him out of pulling the trigger on Wednesday 27 December. She tells him how her death will devastate their daughter Pearl (Petronella Tshuma) and that seems to work. “David pulls back and pauses,” says Jamie. “He wanted to make things work with Andiswa. He thought that they were going to be a family and Pearl would take his last name. But that has all been ruined by Andiswa and her greed.”

Andiswa proves that she is as slippery as an eel later on Wednesday 27 December and she sneaks out while David is in another room. “She wants to bid farewell to Pearl before leaving town. David’s head is spinning out of control and he can’t believe that he has lost at love again. Maybe it’s a warning to forget about his heart and focus on his business,” chuckles Jamie.
