Candle-stick smackdown

Quinn loses her cool when she thinks that Katie is trying to steal Eric from her.

Weekdays SABC3 (*193) 18:30

Jealously makes you nasty, but if you’re crazy Quinn (Rena Sofer), it makes you crazier. Quinn thinks that Katie (Heather Tom) is more than “just friends” with her husband Eric (John McCook) after learning that they watched the Forrester fashion show together on Thursday 7 December. “She’s jealous of the bond between Eric and Katie and will do whatever it takes to keep Eric for herself,” warns Rena. Quinn’s paranoia consumes her and things come to a bloody blowout on Monday 8 January when she hits Katie over the head with a silver candlestick.

KISS OF DEATH

Katie visits Eric on Monday 8 January to thank him for finding a new school for her son Will (played by Heather’s real-life son Zane Alexander Achor) as well as a new home after she left Bill (Don Diamont) in December 2017. Quinn is eavesdropping from another room and sees Katie kiss Eric on the cheek, which is when she explodes in a quiet rage as neither Eric nor Katie knows she is there. Quinn waits for her hubby to go upstairs and take his pills after his medical drama in late 2017, then she confronts Katie. “I saw you kissing my husband,” fumes Quinn. “I saw you!”

HUSBAND NABBER

Quinn continues, “This was your plan all along! You’re going after my husband!” Rather than walk away, Katie pours petrol on the open flame and shouts back, “Why not? You are not good enough for him. He shouldn’t be married to you!” Without skipping a beat, Katie adds, “It’s awful having to watch you manipulate him! That poor man has to put up with you. You are crazy, Quinn. Crazy!” Before Katie can utter another word, Quinn grabs a candlestick and cracks her over the head repeatedly. Shocked at what she has just done, Quinn kneels next to Katie’s body and checks for a pulse.

REALITY CHECK

Quinn blinks quickly and realises on Tuesday 9 January that she had fantasised her Katie clobbering. Back in the real world, viewers will see Eric go upstairs and Katie bump into Quinn, who warns her, “Don’t get too close to Eric!” The battlelines have been drawn but we’re unsure who to back: Billbeating Katie or Candlestick Quinn…
