Kgothalo digging in her friend Nikiwe’s business backfires when she’s shot at the Zamdela home – and it might not be that much of an accident. Rajesh visits his girlfriend Kgothalo in hospital and suggests she go to the police and open a docket but she refuses because Nikiwe is her bestie. Kgothalo isn’t left alone to recuperate – two new faces in Horizon Deep are there to visit: her friend Leano (Shadi Chauke, Dumi in Mzansi Magic telenovela Ring Of Lies, 2016- current; see more on p34) and her mother Mmakgosi (Clementine Mosimane, troublemaker mom Gloria in Mzansi Magic soapie Isibaya, 2013current; see more on p32). Kgothalo isn’t the only one in a sticky position: Gabriel isn’t making ends meet on his current salary and he picks up a shovel as a miner at Sibeko Gold although he hates it because “it’s below” someone of his standing. Anja and Benjamin’s February flirting is turned up a notch and they end up in bed, and Kgothalo dumps Rajesh because he’s still fixated on Nikiwe’s role in the shooting. Meanwhile, Nikiwe is missing and Kgothalo and Benjamin ask Nikiwe’s convict dad Lincoln for help. Nina’s hand in Kgothalo and Nikiwe’s problems is exposed but she may not get away with murder – Kgothalo has an ally against Nina in the shape of Lincoln.
Lalage is back in The Deep and with her family after a short spell out of town caring for her ailing aunt, but something has changed – and her family are in for a surprise. A new hotel pops up in town but the owner is a mystery, and Nina has a new victim in her crosshairs: Sechaba. Lalage goes behind her hubby Hendrik’s back to get a job, and Kgothalo and Mmakgosi try to make peace. Elsewhere, Nina’s control over Gabriel is slipping and it may have something to do with her newfound attraction to him.
There’s a new turn for Lalage and Hendrik’s marriage, as well as Nina and Gabriel’s “relationship”. There’s a development with the Nikiwe situation, and there may be a surprise in store with the new hotel and its owner.
