Thathe’s Mukwevho family wake up to a bloodbath in their royal homestead on Thursday 8 March when they discover Konanani’s (Takalani Phophi) body full of stab wounds. She is a distant cousin of royal wife Susan (Maumela Mahuwa) and while she’s been in town since midJanuary 2018 to reconnect with her adoptive son Vhutshilo (Wavhudi Lidzhegu), not everyone is saddened by her demise. “She had it coming,” says a smug Nat Ramabulana. There is no love lost between his character Tenda and his dead sister-in-law Konanani. “She lied to everyone!”

FAMILY TIES

Konanani was married to Tenda’s brother Rudzani (Jude Tshisevhe) until his death in 2009 and Tenda believes that she showed up to fight over Rudzani’s will. Konanani claimed that Tenda falsified his brother’s will and stole her son’s inheritance, which Nat agrees about. “She wants to know what Rudzani really left their son and she is leaving no stone unturned.” In the weeks leading up to her murder, Konanani broke into Tenda’s office on Thursday 8 February where she found her husband’s original will. The security patrol interrupted her before she could snap a photo of the document – but she knows that it exists. “Tenda was paranoid after finding out about his ‘guest’,” admits Nat. “He ordered his security team squash her like a cockroach” and while that sounded like a threat on Friday 9 February, Tenda isn’t the only potential murderer…

KILLER CLOSE-BY?

While Nat says that Tenda “is capable of anything”, he is quick to point viewers towards another suspect. Tenda tells Chief Azwindini (Gabriel Temudzani) that Konanani can’t be trusted with money and must be banished on Monday 5 March. That has Susan thinking that her cousin could be stealing funds from the royals too. “I definitely think that Susan is desperate enough to do the unthinkable,” teases Nat, “and as much as Tenda wanted her gone, Konanani rubbed others up the wrong way too.” It’s a pity that Tenda hasn’t destroyed the original will, the only thing linking him to Konanani’s fraud claims. If that landed in the wrong hands, Tenda could easily be exposed… or framed…
