Who’s the boss?
Katie and her Otto clan are still finding their feet as season 2 throws new obstacles their way in American Housewife.

“Katie is never going to conform, no matter how much she wants to or tries to,” laughs lead actress Katy Mixon. And for the new instalment of American Housewife (2016- current), the bumbling-and-stumbling mom is already on thin ice with her fellow housewives in Westport. “She did the fake pregnancy thing because she thought it was fun, but the other moms didn’t see it that way, so she’s going to have to redeem herself this season,” says Katy. “And in true Katie Otto style, she’s going to go big!”
GALAS & GOWNS
Episode 1 sees Katie grab the bull by the horns to fix things – by taking on the most stressful school mom task of the year. “She’s chairing the Spring Gala and that’s code for she’s got to put it all together,” explains Katy. “And if she was willing to fake a preggy belly to get out of regular commitments, just wait!” But it’s not just a school dance – oh no, it’s way more! “This is going to be the theme for the season and play out over the episodes, so we will have to look at where she starts and where this ends up,” says the actress. “It will be a learning curve for her and her family, because she isn’t used to this and they’re not used to her being this way either. It’s a lot of fun. Especially with the actual event!”
HUSBAND ON HAND
“I don’t think we’ll see any babies in this season,” says Diedrich Bader, who plays Katie’s hubby Greg. “Maybe down the line because I know that Katie (and Katy) want more… but for now we’re getting a pig.” And that’s a good thing because Greg is going to have his hands full picking up behind his wife. “Katie is the wrong person for the Spring Gala and Greg is helping fill the holes that she leaves in her wake. And as much as she frustrates him, he loves her and she loves him. They’re a well-matched pair.” That’s great news, because taking on Westport’s wives is a two-man job!
HERE WE GO AGAIN
Katy and fiancé Breaux Greer were pregnant with their son Kingston while filming season 1 (he was born in May 2017) and she’s pregnant with a daughter now, also due in May.
