Lady Die’s true colours
MaNgcobo is playing with fire if she thinks she can “cheat” her cousin Dinekile out of her fair share of their Easter heist…

As KwaMashu’s crimelord Nkunzi (Masoja Msiza) works out the last-minute heist details on Thursday 29 March, his wife MaNgcobo (Dawn Thandeka King) and her girl gang will grab their guns and gloves and count down the seconds for their own Easter surprise on Friday 30 March. MaNgcobo is playing a dangerous game – and not just with Nkunzi. Her cousin Lady Die (Khanyi Mbau) could be the loose cannon that blows her out the water!
KILLER CLOWN
“Lady Die shares a lot of similarities with insane Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) from 2016 action film Suicide Squad,” explains Khanyi. “She looks like a clown, she’s an open spirit and quite artistic – that’s how we put her look together,” adds the actress, hinting at her character’s cuckoo tendencies. Give Lady Die a weapon and you have a problem. “Once you have a gun you feel taller, you feel like you’re in command. You feel fearless and that’s exactly how I felt. I promise you, it was quite interesting,” says Khanyi. But Lady Die isn’t interested in “just going along with the boss”. “She thinks that MaNgcobo’s gang are good at killing people, but in terms of personality, they’re just like cardboard,” says Khanyi matter- of-factly. “She feels like people should have their own brain and intuition in a situation and not wait for MaNgcobo to say, ‘Move, sit, stand’.”
B* BETTER HAVE MY MONEY
MaNgcobo had better keep her eyes open because Lady Die is unhappy about how she’s splitting the loot, especially when it threatens Die’s big dream of a little house by the sea. “She feels that since all of them went into this together, they’re all entitled to an equal share. But that doesn’t happen and it drives her nuts. MaNgcobo doesn’t understand that Die wants to kill anyone who’s standing in her way,” warns Khanyi. “As much as she is hard and gangster, when she’s not holding a gun and killing people, she is quite feminine. She loves long hair and nails and she wants to buy a beach house in East London so that she can watch the whales and the ocean every day.”
