Record label executive Bongi (Thembi Seete) has nowhere to turn on Thursday 29 March after her sidepiece Bash (Siphiwe Mtshali) threatens to reveal her secret: that she swapped her rival Lerato’s (Samkelo Ndlovu) healthy newborn with Nomalanga’s (Nomalanga Shozi) dying baby in February this year. Panicking of what will happen when the news comes out, Bongi rushes to Nomalanga’s doorstep on Thursday 29 March to try undo the chaos she’s created. But she doesn’t get the reception she’d been hoping for, reveals Thembi. “Nomalanga has already fallen in love with ‘her’ baby! She had a suspicion that the babies had been swapped after the two friends gave birth in the same hospital on the same day, she just didn’t tell anyone.” Now with an “accomplice”, Bongi tries to work out what to do with Bash before he can tell Lerato and her babydaddy Lungile (Meshack Mavuso), aka Bongi’s estranged hubby.

BEATING AROUND THE BUSH

Bongi sends Nomalanga for a chat with Bash on Friday 30 March and when he questions her involvement in the baby swapping saga, she confuses him with more lies. “She tells him that she doesn’t know what he’s talking about,” explains Thembi. This leaves Bash with a dilemma: he loves Bongi but after discovering Lerato and Nomalanga’s baby name tags in Bongi’s handbag on Wednesday 21 March, he just wants the truth so that he’s not drawn into this mess. “Bash continues questioning Nomalanga but she has put up a brick wall. Bash walks away from the chat even more confused,” laughs Thembi. With no new info, Bash heads back to Bongi’s place on Wednesday 4 April to question her. If only he knew that he was walking into a deathtrap…

PUT TO SILENCE

Bongi proves just how evil and dark she can be on Thursday 5 April: she slips poison into Bash’s drink while his head is turned away. But again, her plans fall apart and “instead of dying, Bash just falls ill. He’s taken to hospital and the doctors explain to him that he’s had a heart attack”, says Thembi. Bongi slips into nurse mode and plays caregiver to Bash, but that doesn’t mean he’s forgotten what’s on his mind. Bash lets sleeping dogs lie for the meanwhile on Tuesday 10 April but Thembi warns that “Bash is angry that he let his guard down with Bongi, but he lets her off the hook until he can get evidence against her”.
