With over 2 million followers on Instagram alone, radio and TV host Minnie Dlamini wanted to take the lead (like we know her to) by taking us through her fairytale wedding on her three-part reality show Becoming Mrs Jones (2017). Minnie’s eventful life sparks countless headlines, much like the announcement of her engagement to her now-husband Quinton Jones in December 2016. “We saw the media attention and I felt that I needed to do something creative to control the narrative of my own story,” says Minnie. “I then sat with Quinton together with the best people in the industry to help us tell our tale,” she adds. The star-studded wedding was held at Lourensford Wine Estate in Somerset West last year and it was everything that Minnie had hoped for.

GIRLS TRIP

The reality show goes beyond “the big day” as Minnie’s family and friends share their opinions about the bride and groom’s romance. “We couldn’t fit everything into the three episodes. Viewers only get a glimpse of everything that happened,” explains the star. There’s a moment that shows a different side of the media personality and that’s with her bridesmaids at her bachelorette party in Paris, where the crazy bunch partied up a well-publicised storm. “Paris is the city of love and I had never been. We stayed at the exclusive Maison Belle Epoque Manor, which you can’t pay for but have to be invited – it was epic,” explains Minnie.

BEING THE BOSS

Although only tying the knot six months ago, Minnie explains what it’s like to be married to Quinton, “I love the married life! I feel centred, calm and driven. Life has more meaning and value and my heart feels safe and protected”. With the couple’s production company Beautiful Day Productions responsible for filming the wedding, Minnie also learnt about working behind the scenes. “I can be a control freak and I’ve realised that I don’t know everything. We worked with a great team who understood our vision and were able to take it to the next level,” adds Minnie. First comes love… then comes TV marriage – maybe we’ll get a peek into Minnie the mama-to-be one day…
