Close but no murder
Someone wants Tbose and Kwaito’s victim Mr Spiller silenced.

Engineering lecturer Mr Spiller (Jürgen Hellberg) is fighting for his life after he was beaten with a golf club in early April by students Tbose and Kwaito (Cornett Mamabolo and Clement Maosa) for stealing Kwaito’s project. While the boys face a charge of attempted murder on Thursday 26 April, Mr Spiller faces an unwelcome visitor in his ward that same day – and his guest wants to finish the job. “He fears for his life,” warns Jürgen. “He is helpless to the attack. It’s all over!”
UNDER SIEGE
Spiller’s doctors walk in as his wouldbe assassin prepares to strangle him on Friday 27 April and Jürgen admits that it’s a terrible feeling, even though he was just acting. “It’s horrible. Spiller feels powerless. He has wronged a lot of people in his life, and he’s admitted to being a bit of a conman who has a lot of enemies. For the first time, he feels helpless but his doctors scare off this killer.” Convinced that his days are numbered, Mr Spiller calls the police on Monday 30 April for added protection in hospital. In the back of his mind, he’s hoping that this will help clear his conscience, explains the actor. “His restless nights have him feeling guilty
about exploiting Kwaito because they had a connection. But he had to steal Kwaito’s prototype – it was going to make him a lot of money and help settle his debts.” Despite Spiller’s actions, Jürgen insists that his character isn’t a bad guy. “He does bad things to make ends meet. If he could go back and fix everything, he would right his wrongs with Kwaito.”
PARANOID PATIENT
Every creak of a door, phone ringing in the hallway or murmur from other patients has Mr Spiller on edge, more so on Tuesday 1 May during the staff shift change, says Jürgen. “He worries that this person could return to finish him off at any time.” He demands a cop at every door on Wednesday 2 May but the hospital board think that he’s crazy, admits Jürgen. “He is counting his days. And this figure will be back… soon…”
