Past castaways get their second chance at redemption and that massive cash prize in Survivor: Cambodia – Second Chance.

“Outwit. Outplay. Outlast” – three words every contestant on reality series Survivor: Cambodia (2000- current) has imprinted in their brain. For season 31, fans voted online for the return of their favourite excontestants and host Jeff Probst adds that “like so many Survivor ideas, we had wanted to do this for some time. Past seasons had really good players who didn’t last long enough to warrant being put on an all-star type of season”. The 20 “new” Survivors were revealed during the finale of season 30 Worlds Apart in May 2015 (which SA fans saw in July 2017) and flew to Cambodia set straight away. “Viewers were in control,” says Jeff. “We had a list of contestants that were obvious picks and others shocking. It was, ‘This is your call – who do you want to see?’”

But past experience doesn’t really help, hints the host: “Some castaways spoke to each other before casting but pregame alliances don’t work. They may be split by tribes [Ta Keo and Bayon in this season] or voted out before a game plan comes together. You can’t rely on a pre-game – you have to assess and play in the moment! That is Survivor!”
