Slow down, loverboy

Leshole stops his father BigBoy’s wild spending on women.

-

With his car repair business booming, single-father BigBoy (Charles Maja) has a pocket full of cash and no one to spend it on. His son Leshole (Thabo Mkhabela) will be leaving for varsity soon, which means that BigBoy will be home alone, explains Charles. “Unlike other men, he stayed single after his wife left him years ago. He doesn’t know how the dating scene works.” That’s why he mistakes his married friend and drinking buddy Nora’s (Busisiwe Nyundu) friendliness for flirting when she brings in her car for mechanic work on Tuesday 10 July. “They go out and catch-up on ‘ the old days’, but there is no real love there. Nora is using him for his money. He is definitely not someone she’d leave her husband for,” adds Charles. Luckily for BigBoy, his son can spot a golddigger.

DEAL-BREAKER

To BigBoy’s surprise, Leshole is thrilled on Wednesday 11 July to hear that his dad spent the evening in the company of a lady. But that joy turns to anger when Leshole finds out that BigBoy was wining and dining Nora. “The last thing on his mind is who his dad spends time with,” reveals Charles. “Leshole is more concerned with how his father spends their savings.” BigBoy’s love of alcohol is well known around Turfloop and it’s in overdrive with his new “party pal”. It gets worse, reveals Charles: “He splashes out on Nora! BigBoy spoils her with gifts and Leshole disapproves of this reckless behaviour and how he is taking their hard-earned money and pouring it down the drain”. Leshole fears that like in the past, BigBoy will neglect their family business and waste their money on booze. “He warns his dad not to get involved with a married woman,” says Charles. Leshole threatens to quit their business if BigBoy doesn’t listen – and that’s a problem as BigBoy can’t run the repair shop on his own. No business means no money, and no money means no girlfriend Nora.

MONEY TALKS

BigBoy listens and says no to buying Nora another round on Friday 13 July. “She refuses to spend anymore time with him and he realises that she was just using him for drinks,” says Charles. Not that BigBoy is worried – there are plenty of fish in the sea and he’s just learnt how to cast out his line again…
