David maliciously invites Suffocate to dinner with intentions to ruin their kids’ Pearl and Mzi’s relationship for good.

Dodgy Nightclub boss David Genaro (Jamie Bartlett) has one last card to play if he’s going to destroy his daughter Pearl’s (Petronella Tshuma) romance with law student boyfriend Mzi (Jesse Suntele). “He is desperate for the couple to break up”, chuckles Jamie. Mzi’s excon-turned-businessman father Suffocate (Mduduzi Mabaso) has been David’s rival for years. “Although David is fond of Mzi, he hates that he is Suffocate’s son,” adds the actor. The feud between the men runs deep and resulted in a death in May last year when David helped Suffo’s thensecond-wife Niki (Nolo Phiri) murder Suffo’s philandering brother Themba (Sphamandla Dhludhlu) to keep Suffo from fixing his marriage with his first wife Puleng ( Tebogo Khalo). “Their kids need to cut ties before something worse boils up,” says Jamie. David invites the Ndlovus for dinner at his house on Thursday 19 July, planning to reveal to Mzi that Pearl was engaged to Suffo in August last year – which Suffo has kept quiet about. But the dinner doesn’t go according to plan and Puleng beats him to the announcement.

BEATING THE CLOCK

There’s awkward tension in the air on Tuesday 24 July and Jamie shakes his head, saying that “David and Suffo hardly speak, except when Suffo brings up David’s overcooked steak”. Pearl and Mzi try to smooth things over and interrupt the men’s bickering to restore peace. Then, just as David is about to reveal Pearl and Suffo’s history, a drunk Puleng spills all. “Pearl’s jaw drops to the ground! She didn’t want Mzi to find out about her history with Suffo,” explains Jamie. For the first time, Mzi considers dumping her. When they started dating, she didn’t say a thing about Suffo, but he needs to think first. “The dinner ends on a bitter note with everyone storming off,” says Jamie. “David is doubly upset: his plan didn’t work – Mzi and Pearl are still together – and he didn’t get to stick a knife in Suffo. But it’s not over!”
