We said goodbye to Mike (Patrick J Adams) and Rachel (Meghan Markle), who left for good in the Suits (2011current) season 7 finale in April 2018. It was nice knowing you! Now it’s hello to ambitious new Specter Litt star Samantha Wheeler (Katherine Heigl) and partner Robert Zane ( Wendell Pierce). Hmm, better make that Zane Specter Litt though…
WHO’S THE BOSS?
Expect an epic power struggle at the law firm, especially with sharp lawyer Alex Williams (Dule Hill) fighting to become the firm’s top dog. “Who’s going to be in charge is very much still an open question between battle-hardened Robert Zane and Harvey (Gabriel Macht) and that will be somewhere resolved after the first episode but it will not be put to bed probably until the end of the 10th episode,” says series creator Aaron Korsh. “When you merge two law firms, you’ve got personality mergers as well, but you have also got some sort of technical issues that you have to deal with.”
WHEELER DEALER
Meanwhile, nobody at Zane Specter Litt seems keen on Samantha at first. “She’s having fun messing with everybody. They’re just not having as much fun – yet,” says Katherine. But she’d be a far more dangerous rival than she is an ally, so Harvey, Louis (Rick Hoffman) and Donna (Sarah Rafferty) will have to get over their misgivings and embrace her sneaky, say-anything-to-win attitude. “Donna can’t quite put her finger on Samantha. She’s trying to figure out Samantha and Samantha is not really giving much of anything away,” reveals Katherine. Gabriel adds that his character won’t have it all his way. “There are a lot of similarities between Samantha and Harvey. In the first couple of episodes, they go head to head. They are truly adversarial, but they sometimes mirror each other in their actions and their manipulative ways to accomplish what they need to. There’s something charming about that and exciting!”
