Anger Management
Season 2 e.tv (*194) 18:30 Comedy
What began as a “fun” job soured overnight for Selma Blair, therapist Dr Kate Wales in comedy Anger Management (2012-2014). She was fired in season 2 after complaining about lead star Charlie Sheen’s unprofessional behaviour, like not showing up for filming. Charlie reportedly told the show bosses “it’s me or her” and the rest is history.
Selma refuses to talk about being 1
fired or the show itself, and her agent screens interview questions before the 46-year-old answers them.
She was raised in a Jewish home 2
in Michigan and her full name is Selma Bat-Sheva Blair Beitner. She isn’t a strict follower of her faith though.
She raised eyebrows in 2010 when 3
she said that she’d been homeless but still wore Versace, claiming that she was misquoted. “I was in a paying Salvation Army residence in New York when I was 20 – I paid rent. I found a vintage Versace in a thrift store. Not new!”
Selma also upset her family when 4
she chose acting over following in her parents’ work shoes: her mom Molly Anne is a judge and her late dad Elliot was an attorney before dying in 2012.
She’s best known for her 1999 5
Cruel Intentions kiss with Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy in Buffy The Vampire Slayer, 1996-2003), but Selma’s favourite work was narrating 2010 Holocaust doccie The Diary Of Anne Frank. It earned her a Grammy nomination for Best Spoken Word Album For Children.
The actress almost pulled out of 6
2004 sci-fi movie Hell Boy because of a underwater scene – she has been deathly afraid of water since seeing 1975 horror movie Jaws as a child.
