The calm before the storm
Lerato uncovers the truth about her dead baby... she’s alive and well and living with her “mom” Nomalanga.

A homeless and financially strained Lerato (Samkelo Ndlovu) is forced to live in her car on Tuesday 7 August after her best friend Nomalanga (Nomalanga Shozi) throws her out of her mansion. “Nomalanga makes up all kinds of excuses, like she’s working on her marriage with her husband Zolani (Malusi Mbele),” says Samkelo, but that’s all a lie. In fact, Nomalanga is apprehensive because she has been keeping an earth-shattering secret: Lerato’s rival Bongi ( Thembi Seete) swapped Nomalanga and Lerato’s new-born babies at the hospital in December last year. Lerato ended up with Nomalanga’s dead baby while Nomalanga went home with Lerato’s healthy daughter Amahle (Cebile Hlatshwayo). “It would’ve been better if Nomalanga kept Lerato at arms length because with Lerato digging for answers on her broken friendship with Nomalanga, she’ll stumble upon the truth behind about the baby swap,” adds the actress.
THE BITTER TRUTH
Lerato’s cousin Fats (Mpho Molepo) convinces her to move in with the Khuses on Wednesday 8 August. “She’s lost and confused. Her world is crumbling,” says Samkelo. Then Lerato unintentionally overdoses on pain pills, sending her to the hospital on Thursday 9 August. “Everyone thinks she’s tried to commit suicide and they want to help.” Especially Bongi’s ex Bash (Siphiwe Mtshali) – he learnt about the baby swap in April – who rushes to Lerato and “tells her everything,” admits Samkelo.
JUST A MATTER OF TIME
Lerato remains tight-lipped about the baby swap when she visits Nomalanga on Monday 13 August to mend their friendship, but “she wants revenge. Nomalanga put her through a lot of pain and Lerato wants to see whether Nomalanga will admit to what she’s done,” reveals Samkelo. “It’s the end of the road. Lerato wants Nomalanga to suffer like she did, grieving for a baby that wasn’t hers. She should watch her back because Lerato is out to ruin her.” And as for baby Amahle, Lerato wants a relationship with her daughter!
