Keesha Sharp calls her role as Trish Murtaugh in action series Lethal Weapon (2016-currrent) “perfect. I am a working mother, so is Trish. The show has been so much fun and I love that I’m playing a character that I loved in the movies [portrayed by Darlene Love].” It’s not just a good-cop, bad-cop show though.

How much of the series is true to the original movie franchise (1987-current)? I was and still am obsessed with the movies, so I know all about them. We start off like in the films with “the boys” meeting, but then it takes a different path, which is great for everyone. So fans will be able to identify with Damon Wayans as your hubby Roger Murtaugh and Clayne Crawford as Riggs? I definitely think so. The show is so well balanced and it’s got action, then you also have the drama, the comedy and most of all, you have heart. You will become attached to the characters. Trish and Roger have this fun tug-of-war relationship and marriage… I love that our audience will get to see their relationship as parents and husband and wife and how their dynamic changes and develops during season 1. There’s a fair amount of violence for what is described as a family show. We very much are a family show. There will be certain aspects that will open conversation at the dinner table – like the cases that the guys work on. It’s important that we teach lessons through the show and that we [Damon and I] portray a strong and loving black family, even just a family. It’s important to see that onscreen and I’m really proud of that part.
