Season 2 CBeebies (*306) 09:25 Animation

There’s a new sheep on telly and little Timmy means business in claymation series Timmy Time (2009-2012). It’s the spin-off from awardwinning show Shaun The Sheep (2006-2016) but with one main difference, explains co-creator Jackie Cockle: “We’ve taken Timmy out of the adult world of Shaun so that he doesn’t get into so much trouble. This lamb is learning about the world and he’s taking our audience along for the ride.”

1 It’s never mentioned how Timmy is related to Shaun “but there is a clear similarity in looks,” laughs Jackie. “They are from the same family and maybe even the same farmyard.”

2 Timmy Time is produced by Aardman Animation Studios, who also made Shaun The Sheep and the show that Shaun is spun-off from – Wallace & Gromit (1989-current).

3 Like Shaun The Sheep, there’s no actual dialogue in the show – the characters interact with their real-life animal noises, grunts and squeals.

4 There are 14 regular characters and each clay model is a minimum of 16cm tall, reveals Jackie. “If they get any smaller, it would be too difficult to work with their tiny features.”

6 Timmy and his mom Timmy’s Mum 5 are Suffolk sheep. The show was featured on Discovery Channel’s series How It’s Made (2001-current) in 2011.

7 It takes over a week to produce five minutes of the show and each episode is 10 minutes long.

8 Don’t expect Timmy to age, hints Jackie: “We’re keeping him in preschool – our audience is constantly renewing as babies are born, so we don’t need to change that.”
