Little Big Shots
Season 3 M-Net Dec 16:00/Sat (*101) 17:00 Reality
The smaller the performer, the bigger the talent on reality TV show Little Big Shots (2016- current) as pint-sized acts razzle and dazzle. The children are even wowing host Steve Harvey, who thought that he had seen it all in his 40-year entertainment career: “Me and this little dude had a conversation for 42 minutes. The most entertaining 42 minutes ever. And we were speaking in two different languages.” What else do you need to know about the show?
Steve is more than just the host – he’s the co- creator and executive producer alongside talkshow host Ellen DeGeneres (The Ellen DeGeneres Show, 2003- current), saying that “we were talking and came up with this idea: combine American Idol (2002- current) and Kids Say the Darndest Things (1995-1998)”. It’s the only show that Steve is willing to fly to LA to film because the contestants are so young and it’s easier on the parents. His other productions are all taped in Atlanta, where he lives. The only requirement is that the kids are 12 or younger. Most other talent shows only take performers who are 13 and older. It was renewed for a second season after four episodes when it averaged 16 million viewers an episode, second only to The Voice (2011- current). There are 16 international versions and 2017 spin- off Little Big Shots: Forever Young with senior citizens. Wonder why Steve is often speechless at the acts? He doesn’t meet his guests until they’re on his couch and he is seeing their performances for the first time, like the live audience.
