Dirty, sexy money

How far is Sbu willing to go when he snuggles up to Mrs Madlala and her money?

-

When holier than thou Mrs Madlala’s (Ntombifuthi Dlamini) secret life as a mistress was exposed in church on Friday 2 November, Sbu (Simphiwe Majozi) the gangster had a good laugh. “He’s like, ‘Hey, you are also a crook!’” says Simphiwe. But after she starts splashing about those Madlala millions, laughter turns to calculation. “It’s actually Fikile (Nelisa Mchunu) who is putting pressure on Sbu [on Wednesday 21 November], telling him, ‘Hey, Sbu, we are broke! Make a plan. That mama has so much money. Try to dig out some of that cash’,” says Simphiwe. For Sbu, digging starts simply in the garden on Friday 30 November, but he might make it all the way to the bedroom by December.

MONEY FARM

“He starts by visiting her. He searches the house to see what kinds of things she likes. And he notices that she likes plants. She likes gardening and Sbu realises that’s his chance to get closer to her. Sbu tells her that he’s also into horticulture and Mrs Madlala pays for Sbu take a gardening course. There is no course – Sbu is just fishing money from her. So he is lying all the time. Lying, lying, lying. But to him, she is a liar as well and she has so much money! Sbu is only taking a few thousand from her, like R6 000 here or R2 000 maybe another week. She just gives it to this boy,” Simphiwe says, shaking his head.

MOVING IN ON TARGET

Mrs Madlala, who has been desperately lonely after her lover’s offscreen death in September can’t resist the young Sbu’s company. “She gives him her outside building to stay in so that now he is staying with her full time,” adds Simphiwe. “Fikile ends up being jealous of Sbu because she sees that he is sidelining her and only focussing on Mrs Madlala now. All he talks about is her. Fikile feels like, ‘Haai, wena, hey! What is wrong with you now? Now you’ve got feelings?’ It’s a beautiful story really.”
