Gone

Season 1 Thursdays (from 22 November) M-Net (*101) 21:00

“While many shows start with a body and the puzzle is to find the killer, ours starts with a living person that we have a very short amount of time to find. That’s a different dynamic and it puts a different kind of pressure on us,” says Chris Noth (Detective Mike Logan in Law & Order, 1990-1995) of his role as FBI Agent Frank Novak in the crime drama Gone (2017- current). Each of the characters on Frank’s team have had a deeply personal experience with abduction, which slowly emerges as it affects how they cope with the search.

THE KICK

It’s based on One Kick, Chelsea Cain’s 2014 crime novel about child abduction survivor Kit “Kick” Lannigan (played by Leven Rambin). She is recruited by Frank – who rescued her after five years in the hands of a psychopath – to assist his FBI special task force with abduction cases. The role literally gave Leven nightmares. “It was a very dark year for me, not just playing the role but researching. I had constant nightmares about being kidnapped, my mom or boyfriend being kidnapped,” she admits. “It opened my eyes to a side of humanity that I didn’t know existed. I was naive. I can’t un-know the things that I know now.” It’s not all gloom though, says Chris: “What relieves this darkness is that we’re able to solve as many cases as we do, because of her.”
