Chicago Med

-

Season 2 e.tv (*194) 20:30 Drama

Rachel Dipillo’s character Sarah Reese is nearing the end of her medical studies in Chicago Med (2015- current) but it’s something the 27-year-old couldn’t see herself doing in real life. “I am not that responsible, to be saving people’s lives. You can’t be 27 and a doctor. That’s too young to know all that information!”

“If anything, I’m a lot more like my character Andie in comedy series Jane The Virgin (2014- current),” says Rachel. “She’s a romantic and a writer and creative. I’ve always been into art and performing. I never thought I’d be in a doctor’s coat until I auditioned for the show – even then, I wasn’t sure.” She was born in Flint, Michigan but grew up in Nashville, Tennessee, which is where she got into acting in school plays. “I got to pretend to be these characters and break away from the real world. That was when I knew I wanted to act,” says Rachel. Her first two roles left her despondent though. She played a partygoer extra in TV movie Elle: A Modern Cinderella Tale in 2010, then a recurring role as The Pretty Girl extra in youth sitcom Big Time Rush (2009-2013). Even her Chicago Med role wasn’t as a regular until season 2. “That phonecall from the producers was the best thing in the world. I didn’t expect it. I ran around the room screaming and I hadn’t even put the phone down, so they heard me,” says the actress shyly. She loves social media but admits that her Instagram was mostly for her role as Sarah, which she left in September this year. And while her Twitter account is far more personal, there is no sign of a significant other in any photos or posts. “I’m just private,” says Rachel. “And we [actors] are allowed to be.”
