Scarred for life

Connie’s facial injury is destroying her spirit.

-

“Connie is going through an incredibly difficult time,” says Quinne Brown Huffman, referring to the face injury that she sustained earlier this month when a grenade exploded in her face during the Haven hostage saga. “Her friends try to cheer her up, but she knows that nothing will ever be the same again,” adds the actress

DOWN IN THE DUMPS

Connie’s boyfriend André (Marcus Muller) is at her side while she is recuperation in the clinic, but he starts feeling powerless when he can’t lift Connie’s spirit. “There’s only so much he can do. Connie is angry and feels she doesn’t deserve what happened,” says Quinne. He overhears her phonecall on on Monday 19 November with her niece Paula (Diaan Lawrenson) who has been living in Venezuela since 2016 and he is dismayed. “She wants to leave Hillside where people know her and will stare at her. She wants to hide out at Paula,” Marcus explains. André urges her to stay positive and Connie’s spirit lifts slightly on Tuesday 20 November when hears she’s being discharged.

A CURE

Although she battles to adjust to her new life, she stays positive and orders a special ointment online on Thursday 22 November that promises an instant cure for her scars. “She is very excited and sees light at the end of the tunnel,” says Quinn. But to her disappointment, something goes wrong when she tries the cream and she goes back to the clinic. “She is despondent that this internet cure didn’t work. Her spirit is broken and she starts to doubt if she’ll ever be rid of the terrible marks.” Andre is at her side again, “But he is also at his wit’s end because there is nothing specific that he can do to ease her pain,” says Marcus. And while Connie still hopes that some miracle will transform her face back into the beautiful features it once had, she’s doubting if anyone will love her with her new look.
