Thorne Forrester is crashing his way back into the family and he’s bringing prickly problems with him.
It’s a newlook Thorne striding into the Forrester Mansion on Tuesday 1 January as Ingo Rademacher takes over the role at Thanksgiving dinner, bursting in with an “I’m back!” The last time viewers saw Thorne, he was played by Winsor
Harmon and popped in at Eric and Quinn’s (John McCook and Rena Sofer) wedding in October 2017 to do best-man duties. Thorne has been working at Forrester Creations’ Paris office after a falling out with Eric, but his return to LA is a bit more permanent, explains Ingo (who played Jasper Jack from 1996 to 2017 on US soapie General Hospital, 1963- current): “Hopefully I will live up to the standards of Winsor fans and win my own audience.”
MAY THE 4TH BE WITH YOU
Ingo is the fourth actor to play Thorne and he did his research. “I knew little of the early actors who played Thorne, but I’m great friends with Winsor, so he gave me a crash course.” Before Ingo and Winsor, Clayton
Norcross had the role from 1987 to 1989, followed by
Jeff Trachta between 1989 and 1996. “Before I was cast, I never watched the soap. Winsor was very thorough with Thorne’s history,” adds the 47-year-old German-Australian actor.
BOLD ISSUES
Ingo wasn’t initially asked to join the Bold line-up as a Forrester though. “I was first asked to play Mateo [Francisco San Martin], but I was then offered the role of Thorne.” Bringing him back isn’t just the start of a new war with halfbrother Ridge (Thorsten Kaye), Thorne is going to get involved again with his ex-wife Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang, in 2002), as well as cause friction between his exlover Katie (Heather Tom) and her toy-boy former stepson Wyatt (Darin Brooks) later in 2019.
DESIGN TEAM
One thing that Ingo didn’t research is his character’s love of design: “My wife Ehiku and I run our own Hawaii active-wear company Mahiku.” They married in 2009 and have two sons: Peanut Kari (11) and Pohaku Zen (7).
