The Voice’s host for season 3 Anele Mdoda feels like a mother hen during filming. “I meet the contestants and their families and friends before the show and I stand by them backstage as their contestant belts out a tune,” says Anele. “There are always tears – be it of joy if a mentor’s chair turns or heartache if they’re unsuccessful. I try to comfort them and the contestant when they come off stage, but most of the time I am the one who has to be comforted as I’m bawling my eyes out for them.”
