Dr Jackie Walters has spent the last half of season 5 of reality show Married To Medicine (2013- current) sobbing after learning of her husband Curtis’s cheating and kicking him out the house. In season 6 (episodes 3 and 4 repeat today), Dr Jackie has taken back control and they’re working through their issues, which is a huge step as Jackie filed for divorce just three days after the infidelity revelation.

“Infidelity… I initially felt homicidal,” says Dr Jackie. “It was not a snap decision [filing for divorce]. You are traumatised initially, more so after finding out about it on your iPad, but you have to keep going on.” She admits that the cameras were turned off when she first found out because she was that upset and she had a patient waiting for her. The 60-year-old has three degrees – two Bachelor Of Sciences from the University Of Mississippi and Alcorn State University, plus her medical degree from the University Of Mississippi School Of Medicine. None of the cast from the show are executive producers like most other reality shows but that suits Jackie “just fine – I’m an OBGYN [obstetrician and gynaecologist], not a television producer. That is not my thing”. She’s had breast cancer twice and founded the Women’s Wellness Program in Atlanta, along with the 50 Shades Of Pink Foundation supporting men and women with breast cancer. And while she loves her series, she blames it for Curtis’s cheating, saying “his public persona adds to it. Being on TV, women think, ‘Maybe he’s got a whole lot of money I can get’.”
