Face to face: broken Quinton takes on Mthunzi after Thembeka’s murder

If you’re still recovering from Thembeka’s (Masasa Mbangeni) sudden death, we don’t blame you. No one saw it coming – least of all the love of her life Quinton (Brighton Ngoma).

The queen of vindictive schemes is dead and from what we’ve been told, for good. Despite her drama over the years, we can’t help but feel a tinge of sadness at the loss. But we’re not the only ones grieving. Quinton, having just watched his love die in his arms, is now a broken man.

Mthunzi (Bongile Mantsai) felt betrayed by his business partner Thembeka, who wanted to help Quinton out of his financial predicament. “Mthunzi swore revenge on Quinton. He wanted Quinton dead to reciprocate the hurt that Thembeka caused him,” says Brighton. “He felt the best way to break her heart was to kill Quinton while she watched.” Clearly things didn’t go according to plan and following a tussle, a single gunshot claimed the life of the woman viewers have loved to hate.

SHATTERED

Brighton reveals that Thembeka’s death leaves his character in pieces. “His world collapses. His heart breaks. And his soul hurts. He’s lost the love of his life.” It isn’t long before Quinton starts blaming himself for her death. But there’s no time for self-pity. Mthunzi is still out there, in hiding…

“Quinton reckons the best way to lure a beast from hiding is to find its weak spot,” reveals Brighton, who isn’t going to elaborate on his character’s plan. What we can tell you is that it’s cruel and something Mthunzi wouldn’t hesitate doing. “In the coming weeks, we will see a man struggling to stay sane in the face of great loss, battling his conscience every step of the way. Witnessing the murder of his true love takes him to dark place he may not emerge from,” Brighton warns.
